Japanese traditional Hakata doll

There are many variations of Hakata dolls. One of the popular design themes is Sumo wrestling. Sumo-themed dolls are difficult to make since they don't wear clothes and thus the muscles need to be expressed in detail. One must study the structure of the human body to create such high quality dolls. Hitoshi Kameda, the creator of this doll, is a master artisan who people say there is no match when it comes to making Sumo themed dolls. He has been creating superb dolls while always studying the moves and intensity unique to Sumo and nurturing relationships with the Sumo Association and its many wrestlers. This "Unryu Dohyo Iri" ("Unryu-style Ring Entrance Ceremony") is one such doll. It was modeled after an actual famous wrestler. This doll is especially popular among overseas customers.
