It has strong adhesive properties and is used as a lacquering material that on hardening becomes extremely durable and produces a glossy finish. It can be found widely throughout Eastern Asia and has been used in Japan for several thousand years. The word ‘urushi’ is thought to have originated from the Japanese uruwashi or urumu, which approximates to the English for fresh and vibrant gloss. When urushi hardens it is very resistant to both acids and alkalis and is durable enough to last several thousand years. Urushi vessels have been found in excavations that date from the Jomon period (8000 BC - 300 BC). There have even been cases reported where the original wooden base has completely rotted away but the original urushi coating has remained with its color and quality preserved.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"関美工堂","offers":[{"title":"brown","offer_id":43289258950750,"sku":"B001-624-01","price":14340.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":false},{"title":"red","offer_id":43289258983518,"sku":"B001-624-02","price":14340.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":false},{"title":"black","offer_id":43289259016286,"sku":"B001-624-03","price":14340.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0612\/4699\/6574\/files\/01091434_50ed0162cc772.jpg?v=1788789104","url":"https:\/\/www.alexcious.com\/en\/products\/detail624","provider":"ALEXCIOUS","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
