The Park Hotel Tokyo’s limited-period plan, “Encounters with the Sumida, the Town of Craftsmanship and Artisans in Rooms with a View of the Tokyo Sky Tree®,” is a project organized by NIPPONWAZA.COM to give hotel guests the chance to experience the appeal of Sumida during their stay. The plan is ideal for those looking for a unique Tokyo experience and includes gifts of “craftwork created in Sumida” for guests staying at the hotel. 1. Tokyo Reproduction Glass “BRUNCH” (Small)

“BRUNCH” is a series of reproductions of products exported by Hirota Glass to Europe and America in the 1950’s.
There are a great many works from the past made of glass superior in quality to the glass of today and Hirota Glass has begun producing reproductions in order to reproduce the technology of those days. The techniques of artisans can be glimpsed in the delicate appeal of these works.

2. Mini-Folding Byoubu Screens “Aka Fuji (Red Fuji)”, “Namiura (In the Hollow of a Wave off the Coast of Kanagawa)”

Established in Sumida in 1946, Kataoka Byobu is the only store in Tokyo that specializes in folding Byoubu screens. Recently, “Aka Fuji (Red Fuji)” and “Namiura (In the Hollow of a Wave off the Coast at Kanagawa)” from the thirty six views of Mount Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai, an artist with strong ties to Sumida, have been selected from popular mini-screens as items for interior decoration. We hope that you will set these screens in the place of your preference and enjoy Hokusai’s view of the world.

Museum of Byoubu
Visitors can view not only tools and processes used in the production of screens, but also “Edo-fuzoku-saireizu-byobu (Folding Screens depicting Scenes from Life and Festivals in Edo)” and “Karakuri Byoubu (Trick Folding Screens).” The museum also includes a store.

3.WELCOME SOAP (Sea bream-shaped soap) “Pomegranate”

Tamanohada Soap Corporation is a well-established manufacturer specializing in soap that was founded in 1892
in Honjo (present day Midori, Sumida-ku). WELCOME SOAP is a soap that has been produced with the “Sea
Bream,” a fish served on auspicious occasions, as its motif. This product is manufactured based on the wooden mold used to make “Rakugan,” a hard, dainty, sweet Japanese confectionary.

4. Salty Hokusai Age (Deep-fried rice cake)

The Arare Honpo (main shop) was established in 1910. Made from glutinous rice, Hokusai Age is hand-fried thinly-sliced slightly chewy rice cake with a delicate sweetness that spreads in the mouth. The package features scenes from the thirty six views of Mount Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai that are owned by Sumida-ku. Ingredients: Glutinous rice (made in Japan), vegetable oil, salt, pepper, dried plum powder, capsicum, seasoning (e.g. Amino acid): Indication of allergens: None: Best consumed within 60 days: The factory that manufactures this product produces products including wheat, milk, eggs, peanuts, shrimps and crab.

Azuma Arare Honpo in Ryogoku
Visitors to the Ryogoku store on Hokusai Street where the product is sold can observe “Hokusai Age” being made. Customers can sample freshly-fried “Hokusai Age.”
